Single-core fiber (SCF) refers to a fiber that contains only one physical core through which light travels, surrounded by cladding that keeps the light contained . This is distinct from multi-core fiber (MCF), which has multiple cores within a single fiber strand, each capable of carrying independent signals .Key InsightSince single-mode fibers inherently have a single core, they are already single-core fibers by definition.
